Toyota Launches Fully Redesigned RAV4 in China! Featuring Luxurious Interior, New Green Color, and Price Reduction of Approximately ¥160,000

Iggy Toyota, a joint venture between Toyota and China's First Automobile Group, launched an improved model of its mid-size SUV, the RAV4, on September 12, 2024. The RAV4, first introduced in 1994, pioneered a new market segment: passenger car-type SUVs (crossover SUVs) comfortable for city driving. Over the generations, it has grown in size. While sales in Japan were once discontinued, overseas sales remained strong. Now, it's become as popular as the "Corolla".

The current model is the fifth generation, launched in 2018. The China-spec version is produced locally. Its dimensions are: length 4600mm x width 1855mm x height 1685mm, with a wheelbase of 2690mm. Powertrains come in three types: 2.0-liter gasoline, 2.5-liter hybrid, and 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid, all available with FWD or 4WD.

This newly announced improved model features a new green metallic body color, enhanced interior luxury, and a more comprehensive equipment list. Furthermore, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the RAV4, a price reduction of up to 8000 yuan (approximately 160,000 yen) is being offered. The cheapest model, the 2-liter \"Urban Edition\". is priced at 169,800 yuan (approximately 3.4 million yen), the main 2-liter engine model at 199,800 yuan (approximately 4 million yen), the hybrid \"Zhengying PLUS\" at 225,800 yuan (approximately 4.6 million yen), and the plug-in hybrid \"Zhengying PRO\" at 256,800 yuan (approximately 5.25 million yen).

New buyers will also receive benefits worth 24,000 yuan. The announcement was made at the production plant, where a roughly two-hour presentation showcased Toyota's just-in-time system and other aspects of the production process. A price reduction for the luxury SUV \"Harrier\", also produced at the same plant, was also announced.
